Happy Easter

We hope everyone had a good Easter. Elizabeth woke us up at 6:30 am, happily eating chocolate she had found from the Easter bunny. Her egg hunt had her following clues to find some treats and it was pretty neat that she could read most of them on her own.
We took Elizabeth to church on Good Friday and she stayed on her own with the kids in the sunday school. I told the Teacher that Elizabeth may need some extra help with walking and he concluded that riding on their donkey was the best way for her to get around so she quite happily rode around on a life sized donkey on wheels. She told me when I picked her up she even had her feet washed, I do see a green hue so I am assuming there was some walking in paint as well, I quickly learned that sending her in white and lilac clothing was not the best choice for Sunday school.
We completed our yearly ritual of taking her picture with the same Easter basket. The photo shoot was a bit difficult as Elizabeth was having a sugar high from all the treats she found at Grams. Sugar and food coloring for Elizabeth really don't mix, it is like kiddy speed, she goes wild.

Sounds like a great day especially sunday school for Elizabeth.

My baby woke for an early morning bottle 5 am which he gets and goes back to sleep in his crib on easter morning however my nine year old woke up by his cries he just couldn't go back to sleep needed to come down and look around. He understood that he had to wait for his siblings before finding all the treats so he read and watched teletoon after peaking around a bit. I never managed to get back to sleep either.. 6:30 sounds good to me. that's what I get for having 4 kids.

Your little girl gives me so much hope!

My (2yr 3mth old) daughter Katie has a brain injury... she essentially had a number of very small bleeds as a result of Group B Strep Meningitis when she was 3 weeks old. It's a miracle she's here today and amazing that she's doing all that she is doing, but I am always hoping for more. More speech, more appropriate play, more core strength. I stay home with her and it seems our daily routine is a lot like yours. We "work" on things all day...PT, SLP and OT. It's all fun, but we get very little time to just sit and enjoy doing nothing. I hope one day I can go the park with Katie and sit on the bench and have a coffee with the other moms while watching my little girl play and climb safely.

I'm also in Canada...Ottawa. Did you put Elizabeth in any kind of special preschool (special needs, Montessori, etc) or was it just a "regular" public program? I'm working on getting Katie in this fall mainly for socialization and I'm trying to decide on our direction. I'm also hoping for a 1-on-1 aid...I don't trust Katie to keep herself safe in a classroom full of stuff.

Sorry...this it turning into a novel.

LOVE your blog! Elizabeth is beautiful and I look forward to reading more posts. :)

Whoops, I have another question for you. :) Slippery Elm...did it help with Elizabeth's reflux in the end? Katie has been on Prevacid since the age of 7 months. I'm not even convinced that she still has reflux, but when we try to wean her off I think her stomach rebounds and goes into overdrive producing acid. Her eating goes straight downhill. Did you get a tincture...how much did you give her?

Thanks!!
